10-Jan-2011: New Oasis Hospital Al Ain

Multiforms has been awarded the contract for unitised curtain walling of the New Oasis Hospital in Al Ain.

Project: New Oasis Hospital, Al Ain, UAE

Main Contractor: John Sisk & Son Construction LLC.

Project Type: Healthcare

Multiforms Contract: Unitised Curtain Wall System

Multiforms have spent 12 months working and supporting John Sisk & Sons, the Irish main contractor, in their bid to secure their first project in Middle East.

Based on a bid of quality of product, Multiforms are supplying a fully unitised curtain wall, benefiting from their factory manufacturing quality and aligning with Sisk’s stringent approach to Health & Safety. The ethos of pre- assembly reduces time and energy on site and is conducive to reducing accidents and injuries, as opposed to a piece meal installation normally used on a project of this size.

Multiforms are currently focusing on design solutions for the variety of wall types on the project which include bolted steel and glass assemblies, entrance areas, louvers and custom designed brise soleil.

About The Project:

Oasis Hospital in Al Ain is one of the oldest institutions in the UAE dedicated to community welfare, as also the oldest hospital in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Founded in 1960 by American doctors Pat and Marian Kennedy, on land endowed by the late President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the hospital's mission is to provide quality international healthcare and services while representing compassion and love. The 45-year old hospital counts among its communities, several generations of the Royal Family as well as numerous Bedouin, Emirati, Omani and expatriate families in the neighbourhood.

Funded by a grant from Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, a new, state-of-the-art-hospital is scheduled for completion in 2012 on the existing hospital site. The new hospital is slated to span over 60,000 square meters. It will be built on the current grounds where the original hospital has been located since 1960. The five-story building will be surrounded by lush greenery, gardens and podiums. Its unique architecture will bring natural light indoors. The new wing, an extension of the current premises, is due to open in 2012.

With Al Ain's population due to reach 787,220 by 2015, Oasis Hospital is also gearing up to meet the growing needs of its surrounding communities. Today, Oasis Hospital delivers more than 300 babies every month and will have delivered 90,000 infants by the end of 2010. In keeping with its reputation as a maternity hospital, a specialized birthing center will be opened to provide world class tertiary care for mothers and infants. Plans to set up an IVF center to offer fertility treatments are also in the pipeline. The hospital is also looking to expand its current specialty clinics such as Orthopedics, Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, Throat) and The Eye Clinic, and introduce other new medical specialties.

Oasis Hospital has grown from a small maternity facility to a first class health care provider in 50 years. The efforts of Drs Pat & Marian Kennedy to bring hope and renewal to the community of Al Ain are still alive today. Oasis Hospital continues to be committed to serving the people of the UAE and beyond, and is well-placed for the health challenges of the 21st Century.
